The Indigitize Youth Media Activism workshop lead by MASJ students at Sherman Indian High School has just gotten news that "Koby Dale's Creations" will be screening at OUTFEST's Fusion Film Festival in the first week of March! Exciting news for Sherman graduate Koby Dale and Pitzer student Miranda Smith and alumni Julia Hoyt who lead the project at Sherman.

Students from Sherman Indian High School from the Indigitize Video workshop spend a day editing with Pitzer students to finalize their video projects. We snapped a few pics at lunch in McConnell. The Indigitize Youth Media Activism workshop lead by MASJ students at Sherman Indian High School had two videos selected to screen at the LA Skins Fest at the Mann TLC Theater in Hollywood. The Sherman students had a great time at the festival - speaking on stage after their screening, posing for photos, lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, and watching other great Native Films. Visuyal Artist Iris Yirei Hu created a multi-media portrait of Tongva Elder Julia Bogany that was exhibited at Barnsdall Municipal Art Gallery as part of the group exhibition, "HERE". Here are photos from the opening. Noli Indian High Schoo documentary Design of Life is selected to screen at the LA Skins Fest. Elder and Noli School Counselor, Kim Marcus with students Jarrod, & Violet who created the doc attended the Festival with Gina Lamb. Pitzer and Noli students on the set of "Design of Life" videotaping Elder Kim Marcus demonstrating the process of creating ancient paints from iron ore and egg whites that were used to create Cahuilla/Serrano pictographs. Noli students are learning camera technique in documentary production. Students from Noli Indian High School spend a day at Pitzer to create a short documentary about what the Pitzer community knows about local California Native Tribes and their culture. Awards are presented at the L.A. Skins fest, an annual celebration of Native American culture and media production.
SIHS are assisted by MASJ students in utilizing backpack production techniques to create unique pieces of media.
SIHS students are in the midst of a12 week video production workshop with Native that utilizes i-pads & i-movie.
