TUTORS FOR A CAUSE

Tutors For A Cause is a Pitzer student led program/club designed to help young kids successfully get into a college/university. This program is designed specifically for children of Pitzer’s dinning hall staff. Many times these kids come from low-income families who don’t have or don’t know the steps they must take in order to get to college. Therefore the program's goals are to provide the children with the essential tools needed to reach higher education.

Tutors for a Cause

The video aims in letting the Pitzer community know the importance of this program. It portrays the difficulties these kids go through everyday  because they lack the resources like tutoring, SAT prep, and the reminder of special dates they must follow up. We hope that with this documentary we get more tutors involved and people who may want to donate money to provide resources such as paper, pens, books and money for fieldtrips, and  maybe even small scholarships for the students transitioning into college.

"This project not only made me realize the effectiveness of the program and the capacity I have but also gave me the opportunity to see how the real world operates. It made me question and see if I really like media and I came to realize I do.  I really enjoyed the bond made with everyone who was involved in our project. This goes from kids, to parents, staff, and students. I believe we did a great job and just getting the opportunity to see the work we created in a big screen makes me feel so accomplished."
