GIRLS & GANGS

Girls & Gangs has provided direct services to girls in the Los Angeles County juvenile justice system since January 1999, when it began workshops at LA County Probation Camp Joseph Scott.  Their primary goal is to provide young women in the juvenile justice system with community reentry and transition services while incarcerated and after release.  • MASJ began offering  "Video Diary Workshops" in 2005 as the creative expression portion of the Girls and Gangs weekly reentry sessions.

"I realized that this project with Girls and Gangs was more than just a class requirement teaching me about social justice and  media practices, but I was building meaningful deep relationships with amazing individuals who have incredible stories to tell."
