GIRL SCOUTS at
Westland Estates

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  The troupe MASJ worked with was at Westland Estates Mobile Home Park  in Pomona as an After School Photography  and Video Workshop.

Video Poem by Maria Amaya

Video poem written and videotaped by Maria Amaya as part of  an after-school video workshop at Westland Estates Girl Scouts directed by MASJ students Robyn Kopp and Devon Hayden.

"Today what I learned about myself was that I have the ability to maintain my patience even when things are not going my way. When the girls arrived late, the only thing that we could do was plan our lesson as best as we could and adapt to the time. From my collaborators I leaned that you can always find something in common with somebody. At first I though that we were going to have a tough time collaborating and gaining an understanding with the girls but they were very excited and enthusiastic from the very beginning. What I leaned from the project process is that everything takes time and that if you are patient and tenacious that in the end you can get some form of what you were looking for. We didn’t give up and never will."
